Casualties and Rescue Efforts
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), one body was recovered from debris in Kuntari Lagaphali village, while three survivors — two women and a child — were pulled out alive. The deceased was identified as Narendra Singh (42). Seven residents of Kuntari Lagaphali, along with two each from Kuntari Lagasarpani and Dhurma, remain unaccounted for.
Rescue operations are being jointly conducted by the NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, police, and fire brigade teams under the supervision of senior district officials. Those with serious injuries, including a child with head trauma, are being airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for advanced treatment.
Villages Affected
The disaster has severely impacted four villages — Kuntari Lagaphali, Kuntari Lagasarpani, Sera, and Dhurma — all located in the Nandanagar area, about 260 km from Dehradun. Over 200 people have been directly affected, and 150–200 villagers from Kuntari Lagaphali have been shifted to safer locations.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the situation via video-conference with District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari, directing officials to expedite relief work, restore connectivity, and ensure adequate arrangements for food, shelter, and medical aid in the disaster-hit areas.
Infrastructure Damage
Officials reported that 33 houses, several shops, and cowsheds were destroyed. In Mokh valley, flooding of the Moksha river caused heavy erosion, damaging dozens of buildings and sweeping away roads and bridges. The access road to Nandanagar has been blocked, further complicating relief operations.
