The Martand Shrine holds unique spiritual significance, as it is regarded as the birthplace of the thirteenth incarnation of the Sun God — a title bestowed by Lord Vishnu himself along with his ministerial assembly. The sacred site is revered as the only shrine of its kind, where the act of performing Shrad ceremonies is believed to grant Moksha (liberation) to departed souls.

According to tradition, devotees firmly believe that offering prayers and Shrad at this Moksha Tirth ensures eternal peace for their ancestors. The shrine, situated in the northern region of India, continues to attract pilgrims throughout the year, with Pitra Amavasya drawing the largest gatherings of worshippers seeking spiritual solace and blessings for their forefathers.
