PM Package Association Mattan Observes 'Balidan Diwas', Distributes Sweet Water

Jotshi lauds bold steps taken by national leadership in correcting historic blunders

Anantnag, Sept 14: Like many other organizations, PM Package Association Mattan (KMR) observed Balidan Diwas and paid glowing tributes to former BJP vice president and Kashmiri Pandit leader Tika Lal Taploo, who was martyred in Srinagar by Pakistan-trained terrorists on this day.

Tributes were also paid to thousands of other Kashmiri Pandit martyrs, security forces, and nationalist citizens who laid down their lives while fighting terrorism in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the years.

On the occasion, PM Package employees working in Mattan distributed sweet water among the people. The overwhelming and emotional response to the programme reflected the deep attachment and reverence the community holds for its martyrs.

“September 14 is not merely a day of remembrance but a day of pledge. Balidan Diwas is a source of energy, a call to the community not to allow injustice to history, and an affirmation to preserve identity with unshakable resolve,” said President of the Association Ranjan Jotshi.

Since 1989, September 14 has been observed by Kashmiri Hindus as ‘Balidan Diwas’ (Martyrs’ Day), commemorating the persecution and exodus of the community. “We pay homage to those brave men, women, and Indian security forces who sacrificed their lives to save us,” Jotshi said.

Highlighting the significance of recent political changes, he added: “With the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, a new phase has started. For the first time, we are on the defensive and upholding the national interest.”

Jotshi lauded the bold steps taken by the leadership of the country in correcting historic blunders. However, he urged the Government to mitigate the sufferings of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, the worst victims of terrorism. He demanded that perpetrators of exodus, ethnic cleansing, and genocide be brought to justice. He emphasized that after the abrogation of Article 370 and the reorganization of the State, no decision would be acceptable without the involvement of displaced persons.
