Devotees gathered at Paapharan Nag sacred spring for Anant Chaturdashi celebrations.

Salia, Anantnag, Sept 6: The sacred spring of Paapharan Nag in Panzmulla, Salia village of Anantnag, witnessed spiritual fervor today as devotees celebrated Anant Chaturdashi. The event was organized by Shri Martand Tirth Trust, Mattan under the guidance of its President Sh. Ashok Kumar Sidha.

Devotional Bhajans and Prayers

The celebrations began with traditional rituals at the holy spring, followed by devotional bhajans. Veteran singer Sh. Shanti Lal Sidha filled the atmosphere with devotional bhajans at Anantnag’s spiritual heritage.

Expressions of Gratitude

In his address, Sh. Ashok Kumar Sidha expressed gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Sh. Sayeed Fakhruddin Hamid and Director Archives Sh. K.K. Sidha for their valuable support in preserving cultural and religious heritage. He emphasized that such cooperation encourages the revival of ancient pilgrimage traditions like Paapharan Nag.

Voices from the Ground

Speaking on the occasion, President Ashok Kumar Sidha highlighted the significance of Paapharan Nag as an ancient pilgrimage site revered for centuries. He said that reviving such cultural and religious events strengthens the spiritual identity of Kashmiri Pandits and fosters unity among devotees.

Spiritual Significance

Paapharan Nag, historically revered as a Lord Shiva shrine, holds immense significance for Kashmiri Pandits. Traditionally, Anant Chaturdashi is associated with Lord Ganesha (visarjan ceremonies) and Lord Vishnu in his “Anant” form. However, in Kashmir’s unique syncretic tradition, the festival was celebrated here with devotional bhajans and rituals, blending reverence for both Shiva and the significance of Anant Chaturdashi. This reflects the continuity of Kashmiri Pandit spiritual heritage across centuries.
