Tragedy in Mandi District
Deputy Commissioner of Mandi, Apoorv Devgan, said three bodies were recovered from the debris, while two others were rescued. The intense rainfall led to flooding in Son and Bharand drains in Dharampur, submerging the local bus stand and damaging infrastructure.
“The Dharampur bus stand, over two dozen HRTC buses, shops, a pump house, and a workshop have been damaged,” said Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri in a Facebook post.
Damage in Shimla
In Shimla, a landslide near Himland buried several vehicles and blocked the main circular road, causing major inconvenience to school-going children and commuters. Locals Gautam and Rahul Shukla, who were sleeping in their parked vehicle when the incident occurred, recounted the terrifying experience.
“It was raining heavily and around 1 am, we heard a deafening sound with trees and debris sliding down. We immediately moved our vehicle to escape,” they said.

The downpour also damaged shops, pump houses, and essential infrastructure, leaving residents in shock. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as rainfall continues to pose risks of further landslides and flooding in vulnerable regions of the state.
