Combined Commanders’ Conference Inaugurated
Modi inaugurated the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Kolkata, a premier forum of the Armed Forces held every two years. The conference, themed “Year of Reforms – Transformation for the Future,” will run for three days, bringing together the nation’s top civilian and military leadership.
Focus on Reforms and Innovation
In line with 2025 being marked as the “Year of Reforms” in defence, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Defence to accelerate steps towards greater jointness, self-reliance, and innovation to address emerging security challenges. He also reviewed reforms implemented over the past two years and plans for the coming years.
Operation Sindoor Highlighted
Operation Sindoor, conducted from May 6–10, targeted terror camps and military establishments deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The strikes, carried out after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians including 25 tourists, eliminated a significant number of terrorists and their handlers.
Senior Leadership Participation
The conference is being attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS Gen Anil Chauhan, Service Chiefs, and senior officials including the Defence Secretary, Foreign Secretary, DRDO Chairman, and other top officers. Defence Minister Singh will address the Commanders on September 16, while CDS Chauhan will speak on September 17.
Strategic Deliberations
According to an official statement, the conference will conduct a holistic review of structural, administrative, and operational matters based on feedback from across the forces. Discussions will also focus on multi-domain preparedness amid global uncertainties, with the aim of strengthening integration and advancing modernization.
