While addressing a gathering in D H Pora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, Itoo alleged that Lone was responsible for encouraging youth to cross over to Pakistan for arms training. “You (Sajjad Lone) gave guns to these young people. You told them to go to Pakistan for arms training and promised freedom. Thousands of our youth were killed, and you filled graveyards here,” she said.

Itoo further alleged that Lone, who once raised slogans of “Azadi,” later aligned with the BJP and became Social Welfare Minister. “At that time, you did not talk about reservation or the welfare of the people. But today you are giving slogans only because you are hurt that Omar Abdullah is the Chief Minister,” she said.

Defending the democratic mandate, the Minister said Omar Abdullah was elected by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Chaudhary by the people of his constituency, and she herself by the people of Noorabad. “This is the strength of democracy, and leaders must respect it instead of misleading the public,” she added.
