The Secretariat’s Public Services and Outreach Office (Raabita), in Communication No. CMS/PS&O/1650, enclosed excerpts from recent reports highlighting that over a dozen monuments, including the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, were battered by the unprecedented rains. The matter has been termed a “public issue,” requiring urgent attention.
According to official sources, many of the structures built with lime mortar and mud plaster have suffered cracks and seepage, making them vulnerable to collapse. Experts noted that immediate intervention could worsen the condition and that restoration may begin only after two to three months.
Sites Affected
- Mubarak Mandi Complex (Jammu): Severe damage to Gol Ghar, Nazool Office wall, Miyan Mota Samadhi Deodi, and Pink Hall wall.
- Bhimgarh Fort (Reasi): Rs 20 lakh tentatively estimated for repairs.
