Chairperson DDC Poonch inaugurating CBC’s ICOP on Centrally Sponsored Schemes
POONCH, Sept 23: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Poonch, today organized an Integrated Communication Outreach Programme (ICOP) as part of its nationwide awareness campaign on Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs). The event was inaugurated by Tazim Akhter, Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Poonch, while Ghulam Abbas, Director CBC J&K, Ladakh, presided over the programme.
In her address, the DDC Chairperson stressed the importance of holding such awareness programmes regularly, especially in remote and far-flung areas like Surankote, so that people can better understand the benefits of government schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Abbas highlighted that the Government of India remains committed to the upliftment of marginalized sections through welfare-oriented schemes that have brought transformative change nationwide. He urged citizens to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by these initiatives.
Shahzad Ahmed, CDPO Surankote, explained the schemes of the ICDS Department, particularly focusing on the Adi Karamyogi Abhiyan for tribal communities. Dr. Shabir from the Rural Development Department and Nusrat Zabin from the Social Welfare Department also shared details of their respective departmental welfare schemes.
The ICOP featured awareness exhibitions, display panels, departmental stalls, seminars, free health check-ups, an open quiz, a selfie corner, cultural programmes and the distribution of New India Samachar magazine. A large number of participants, particularly youth, attended the event with enthusiasm.
The open quiz, conducted by Vijay Mattoo of CBC Poonch, kept the audience engaged with questions on CSS and current affairs. A cultural performance was presented by artists of M/s Sarswati Sangeet Vidyalay, a registered CBC J&K troupe.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Mudhal, HOD Geography, GDC Surankote, while proceedings were conducted by Umar Farooq.
