Exams to Be Held as Scheduled
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Itoo said the education system is back on track after last year’s disruptions. “Yes, all exams will be on time. Last year, we had to shift sessions, and it was a challenge to deliver exams and books on schedule. But thanks to Allah, everything is streamlined this year, and exams will take place as planned,” she said.
Winter Session Adjustments
The Minister said adjustments in school timings are routine. “In summer, timings are revised, and in winter, changes happen naturally due to cold. If children feel the need for further changes, the Government will consider them,” she explained.
Addressing Academic Loss
Itoo acknowledged the setbacks faced by students due to heatwaves, floods, and disruptions. “Many schools were badly affected, and children’s studies suffered. We are seeking suggestions from the public to decide steps to compensate for the academic loss,” she said.
Review Meeting in Srinagar
Earlier, Itoo chaired a review meeting in Srinagar district with eight MLAs, including Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul, Ahsan Pardesi, Tanvir Sadiq, Salman Sagar, and Shamima Firdous. Issues raised included incomplete projects, poor access to hospitals, PHE and road works, and flood mitigation. “Some projects proposed in 2014 are still pending. Even light rain creates flood-like situations. We need to complete these works to prevent public suffering,” she said.
Concerns Over Health Sector
The Minister also highlighted vacancies in the Health Department and praised the contributions of National Health Mission (NHM) employees. She said the J&K Government has written to the Centre seeking higher honorarium and better regularization measures for NHM staff.
