Katra/Jammu (J&K), Sept 18: Registration for the Mata Vaishnodevi yatra resumed on Thursday morning after authorities gave clearance to continue the pilgrimage, which had been halted briefly on Wednesday evening due to adverse weather conditions.

Resumption of the Yatra
The pilgrimage had earlier resumed on Wednesday after a 22-day suspension caused by landslides and heavy rainfall in Reasi district. However, deteriorating weather led to another temporary halt later in the evening. With conditions improving, authorities reopened the registration and allowed the yatra to proceed on Thursday.
Officials confirmed that the pilgrimage was progressing smoothly, with necessary safety measures in place. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) had earlier permitted around 2,500 pilgrims to undertake the yatra on Wednesday before it was suspended again due to weather concerns.
Devotees Express Relief
Pilgrims at the base camp in Katra welcomed the resumption. “We are happy that the yatra has begun after a long suspension. Now as registration has started again, we are confident of seeking Mata’s blessings,” said Tribhavan Deka, a devotee from Assam, who arrived with a seven-member group.
Savitri Devi from Uttarakhand, who reached Katra with 11 family members, said, “It was the call of Mata for all of us to be here. Despite heavy rains, we feel blessed to finally undertake the pilgrimage.”

The Shrine Board has urged devotees wishing to use the helicopter service to pre-book their tickets. Officials added that all necessary arrangements, including crowd management and safety precautions, are being ensured as the yatra resumes under improved weather conditions.
