J&K Govt forms district-level panels for Lakhpati Didi initiative


Jammu (J&K), Sept 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted District-Level Steering Committees across the Union Territory to implement the Lakhpati Didi Initiative, a scheme aimed at empowering rural women and promoting self-reliance.

Committee Structure

As per the order, Deputy Commissioners will serve as the chairpersons of the committees, with senior officers from multiple sectors including development, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, industries, cooperatives, banks, NABARD, ITIs, and the Rural Livelihood Mission as members.

Responsibilities

The panels have been tasked with advising on strategy, ensuring inter-departmental coordination, monitoring progress, and recommending measures to strengthen implementation of the initiative at the grassroots level.

  • Chairperson: Deputy Commissioner of the respective district
  • Members: Officials from agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, industries, cooperatives, banking sector, NABARD, ITIs, and JKRLM
  • Role: Strategic guidance, coordination, monitoring, and recommendations
