Delhi Police heroin seizure worth Rs 6.25 crore


NEW DELHI, Sept 17: In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested five drug peddlers, including the kingpin of a long-running narcotics supply chain in the national capital. The operation led to the recovery of heroin valued at approximately Rs 6.25 crore, officials said on Wednesday.

Kingpin with Criminal Past

The alleged kingpin, identified as Anil (50), has been wanted by multiple agencies, including the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the Special Cell, and the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Officials said he has been active in the narcotics trade for over two decades and was previously convicted in two separate cases.

Police added that Anil had invested his illegal earnings in real estate, owning flats and commercial properties in Delhi and Haryana worth at least Rs 10 crore.

Chain of Arrests

The investigation began on August 29 when police apprehended Afsana (23) from Bhalswa Dairy and recovered 300 grams of heroin from her possession.

Her interrogation led police to Narender (37) and his wife Jyoti (35) in Burari. A search of their residence resulted in the recovery of another 712 grams of heroin, the police said.

Value of Seizure

With a combined recovery of narcotics worth Rs 6.25 crore, the bust marks one of the biggest recent seizures by the Outer North District Police. Officials said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the supply chain and their interstate connections.
