Dr Jitendra Singh Installs Rs 50 Lakh Nano-Filtration Plant in Hiranagar Border Belt
Hiranagar/Ramgarh, Sept 12: Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh, installed a Rs 50 lakh worth nano-filtration unit in the flood-hit border village near Zero Line today. The modern plant, donated by a Maharashtra-based company, has the capacity to filter 3,000 litres of water per day, providing safe drinking water to the entire village and helping prevent epidemics caused by water-borne diseases.
Safe Drinking Water for Flood-Hit Villages
Dr Singh said this technology-based installation was essential after recent floods inundated agricultural land in the region. Alongside the large plant, household water purifiers and mobile purification units were distributed. The household filters require no electricity, while the mobile unit (capacity 3,000–4,000 litres/hour) can purify water from any source, running on vehicle power supply.
Relief Measures & Rehabilitation
During his visit to Paharpur village and other flood-affected areas, Dr Singh distributed relief material, interacted with victims, and assured them of rehabilitation. He visited homes of affected families, including one belonging to Roop Lal, and directed the District Administration to expedite crop damage assessment so compensation could be provided. The administration has already listed damaged houses for SDRF relief.
Border Outposts & Security Forces
At BOP Paharpur, Dr Singh was briefed on border forces' role during rescue operations. He commended the jawans for reaching flood victims swiftly, often before civil administration. Sharing tea with the personnel, he emphasized the Government of India’s commitment to border welfare and reiterated plans for a multi-purpose dam on the Ujh river.
Commitment to Constituency
The minister also visited Ramgarh in Samba, meeting flood-hit residents and BSF personnel at BOP Tanwar, Kamore. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance of full support to victims and reviewed ongoing relief and restoration efforts. Last week, Dr Singh had similarly toured Udhampur to assess damage and personally distribute relief.
Dr Singh was accompanied by MLA Hiranagar, Vijay Sharma, and other local leaders.
