
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Dr Rakesh Minhas chairs review meeting on RDD schemes
JAMMU, Sept 16: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr Rakesh Minhas, today convened a review meeting of the Rural Development Department (RDD) with a special focus on flagship schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), MGNREGA, and the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).

Focus on PMAY-G & MGNREGA
Reviewing the progress under PMAY(G) and MGNREGA, the Deputy Commissioner directed Block Development Officers to expedite execution of works and ensure that block-wise plans are effectively implemented. He stressed on timely disbursement of payments under MGNREGA and emphasized increasing the number of workdays generated to maximize benefits for the rural population.
Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen)
The DC also took a detailed review of block-wise targets and achievements under SBM(G). He assessed the progress of initiatives such as Individual Household Latrines, Community Sanitary Complexes, Solid Waste Management plants, compost pits, and waste management sheds. He directed intensified efforts to ensure proper collection, segregation, and scientific disposal of waste.
Quality & Monitoring of Works
Dr Minhas instructed officers to conduct regular inspections of civil works to ensure quality and timely completion. He further asked Revenue officials to proactively resolve land disputes that may be delaying developmental projects.
District Capex Budget Review
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the physical and financial progress under the District Capex Budget 2025-26 and stressed on strengthening panchayat ghar infrastructure across jurisdictions.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Sher Singh, CPO Ajaypal Singh, ACP Shahzada Noor ul Ain, ACD Danish Rasool Mir, besides Block Development Officers of Jammu district.
