Damaged structure at Markaz Taiba, Muridke (representational)

A video circulating on social media shows damage at Markaz Taiba in Muridke; rebuilding efforts are reportedly underway.

Jammu, Sept 19: In videos circulating on authenticated social media channels, a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander identified as Qaasim admitted that the group’s Markaz Taiba headquarters at Muridke in Pakistan’s Punjab province was destroyed during strikes carried out as part of Operation Sindoor in early May.

Admission and Rebuilding

In the footage, Qaasim is seen at the damaged site and is heard saying the Muridke complex — reported to have been hit on May 7 — is being rebuilt “bigger than before.” He acknowledged that many militants had received training at the site and urged recruits to join the Daura-e-Suffa program run at the complex, a training course that combines basic drills with religious instruction.

Context: Operation Sindoor

Indian security forces conducted strikes targeting militant infrastructure deep inside Pakistan between May 6–10 under Operation Sindoor, in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists. Reports at the time said headquarters of both Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and LeT were hit and several operatives were killed.

Fundraising, Claims of Support

Additional clips and posts attributed to LeT operatives claim that the Muridke centre is being reconstructed with funds raised through campaigns — including appeals framed as flood relief — and that Pakistani state funds have been allocated. One operative, identified in the videos as Saifullah Kasuri, is heard asserting that the Pakistan Government and military have provided financial support to the rebuilding effort. The group estimates reconstruction costs in the reported range of tens of millions of Pakistani rupees.

Related Admissions

The admissions follow a recent video in which a JeM operative, Ilyas Kashmiri, reportedly acknowledged the destruction of that group’s Bahawalpur headquarters during the same period.
