The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which remained closed for the last two days due to heavy landslides triggered by incessant rainfall, has been reopened for traffic today. Hundreds of stranded vehicles were allowed to move towards their destinations after clearance work by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
Traffic police officials have urged commuters to follow the advisory before traveling, as intermittent blockages due to shooting stones are still possible. The highway is the lifeline of Kashmir Valley, connecting it with the rest of the country.
