Traffic Police J&K Issues Advisory for September 7: NH-44 Remains Closed, Restrictions on SSG and Mughal Road

Traffic Police J&K releases updated travel advisory for highways and inter-district movement.

Jammu/Srinagar: The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has issued a fresh traffic plan and advisory for September 7, 2025, regulating vehicular movement across key highways including NH-44, SSG Road, and Mughal Road. Citizens have been advised to strictly adhere to the cut-off timings and verify road conditions before undertaking journeys.

NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar Highway)

The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remains closed for vehicular traffic between Jakhani (Udhampur) and Srinagar due to road blockages at Bali Nallah. No vehicular movement will be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Banihal and beyond, nor from Qazigund towards Jammu. Commuters belonging to Rajouri, Poonch, and Udhampur are required to keep their photo ID ready to facilitate smooth passage.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road

The Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244) road continues to remain closed for all vehicular movement.

SSG Road

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions (clearance from BRO required), regulated movement will be permitted on the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri axis.

  • LMVs followed by HMVs from Minimarg towards Srinagar: 0500 hrs
  • LMVs followed by HMVs from Sonamarg towards Kargil: 1130 to 1730 hrs
No vehicles will be permitted outside these timings. SFs Convoy, plying from Srinagar to Kargil or vice versa shall plan their movement in such manner so that no Civil Traffic from both sides don't get disturbed.

Mughal Road

Following clearance from GREF, LMVs/Passenger Cars are allowed from both sides of the Mughal Road. Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) are strictly not permitted. Only vehicles with six tyres will be allowed towards Poonch. Commuters have been urged to follow designated cut-off timings.

  • Bhambla: 1330 hrs
  • Rajouri: 1530 hrs
  • Manjakote: 1600 hrs
  • Surankote: 1700 hrs
  • Bheramgala: 1730 hrs

From Srinagar Side:

  • TRC Srinagar: 1430 hrs
  • Nowgam Peaks: 1500 hrs
  • Pantha Chowk: 1500 hrs
  • Chandhara Pampore: 1600 hrs
  • Galandar via Kakapora: 1600 hrs
  • Marvel Crossing: 1600 hrs
  • Kandi Zal (Peaks NH-44): 1600 hrs
  • Khudwani: 1600 hrs
  • Chawalgam Kulgam: 1615 hrs
  • Keegam NH-44: 1630 hrs
  • Herpora: 1700 hrs
