SRINAGAR, Sept 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday announced the reopening of 12 major tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir that were temporarily shut as a precautionary measure following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack on tourists.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced reopening of 12 key tourist and religious destinations across J&K from September 29.
The decision was taken after a detailed security review during the Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting. The LG said the move will help restore normalcy and boost tourism, which had suffered a major setback after the incident.
The tourist spots set to reopen from Monday, September 29, include:
- Kashmir Division: Aru Valley, Rafting Point Yanner, Akkad Park, Padshahi Park Bijbehara, Dara Shikoh Garden (Anantnag), Kaman Post, and Eco-Park Khadniyar (Baramulla).
- Jammu Division: Dagan Top (Ramban), Dhaggar (Kathua), Chinkah (Reasi), Shiv Cave (Salal, Reasi), and Padri (Doda).
“The reopening of these destinations marks a step towards revival of tourism and confidence-building among locals and visitors alike,” an official statement said.
