Security forces during anti-terror operation in J&K

Jammu, Sept 19: An Army jawan was injured in an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in Udhampur district on Thursday night.

Acting on specific inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Army, Special Operations Group (SOG), and police in the Dudu Police Station limits near the Seoj Dhar high-altitude belt, where the gunfight erupted. “Encounter is in progress. Joint teams of SOG, police and Indian Army on ground,” Jammu IGP said in a post on X.

Reports confirmed that one soldier sustained injuries in the exchange of fire. The encounter site is part of a region that has witnessed multiple gunfights in the past year. On June 26, top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander Haider, active in the area for four years, was eliminated in Dudu-Basantgarh forests. Earlier on April 25, an Army soldier was martyred in the Basantgarh sector during a firefight with terrorists.

Arms Recovery in Poonch

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives in Poonch district. The haul included one AK rifle, ammunition, and 20 hand grenades, officials said.
