Jammu Hosts High-Energy Inter-District & Inter-Zonal Sports Competitions

JAMMU, Sept 24: The Inter-District Division Level Competition in Taekwondo (AAG Boys) concluded at Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, while Inter-Zonal District Level competitions for U-19 Boys in Basketball and Kho-Kho began at MA Stadium and Green Field, Gandhi Nagar today.

Over 250 students showcased their sporting talent, aiming for selection in higher-level events. The Taekwondo competition featured thrilling matches across three age groups with medal winners from Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Poonch, Ramban and Kishtwar.

In U-14 Boys, gold medalists included Jai Singh (Samba), Lokinder Singh (Kathua), Sourav Singh (Kathua), Sourav Verma (Udhampur), Stith Sharma (Kathua), Samarth Dogra (Udhampur) and Zaad Zia Wani (Jammu). Several athletes from Samba, Jammu, and Doda secured silver and bronze medals.

In U-17 Boys, winners included Anurag Khajuria (Udhampur), Udhay Dev (Samba), Arun Kumar (Udhampur), Sarvjeet Singh (Udhampur), and Ashutosh Sharma (Jammu), with athletes from Kathua, Poonch, and Ramban also among the medalists.

In the U-19 Boys category, gold went to Shivansh Rajput (Udhampur), Mohammad Hadi (Jammu), Mohit Anthal (Udhampur), Muzakir Hussain (Kishtwar), and Vivek Dingra (Kathua).

In Basketball (U-19), Zone Miran Sahib defeated Zone Jammu (26-14), Satwari beat Bhalwal (26-22), and Akhnoor overcame RS Pura (25-18). In Kho-Kho (U-19) Quarterfinals, RS Pura beat Bhalwal, Akhnoor beat Khour, Miran Sahib defeated Chowki Choura, and Jourian won against Jammu.

The competitions were conducted under the technical guidance of departmental experts including Atul Pangotra, Varinder Singh, Mousmi Verma, Nitin Singh, Rajesh Bandral, among others.
