Ranchi (JH), Sept 18: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Thursday asserted that the armed forces are free from nepotism, describing the ‘Fauj’ as the only place where merit and service to the nation define success.
Message to Students
Interacting with school children in Ranchi, Gen Chauhan encouraged students to consider careers in the armed forces. “The ‘Fauj’ (Army) is the only place where there is no nepotism… You should aspire to join the armed forces if you want to serve the nation, and explore the country and the world,” he said.
Humanitarian Efforts
The CDS highlighted that the armed forces made maximum efforts this year to rescue citizens amid a series of natural calamities. He said the military’s role extends beyond defence to providing relief during emergencies and disasters.
Operation Sindoor
Speaking about Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Gen Chauhan said the first precision strike took place at 1 am on May 7 to minimise civilian casualties. “Precision strikes for long-distance targets during the night required special efforts… We beat Pakistan decisively in every escalation during Operation Sindoor,” he added.
Future of Warfare
Gen Chauhan also underlined that modern warfare is evolving rapidly, driven by technology. He noted that conflicts are no longer confined to land, sea, and air but have expanded into newer domains like cyber warfare.
