Dr. Jitendra Singh Reviews Relief Measures, Announces New Weather Radars & Supplies for J&K

New Delhi / Jammu, September 4, 2025 — Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh convened a high-level review meeting via video conference with the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and District Commissioners of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Kathua, and Udhampur to assess relief and rehabilitation efforts following severe rainfall, cloudbursts, and flash floods.

He announced that under **Mission Mausam**, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) will install **four additional weather radars** in Jammu & Kashmir, bringing the total to seven for more precise, district-wise weather forecasting and early warnings 0.

Dr. Singh further stressed the need for dedicated district-level forecasts, urging the Ministry of Earth Sciences and IMD to maintain **24×7 monitoring and timely alerts** to minimize loss and enhance preparedness 1.

Immediate Relief: Ration Kits, Water Filters & Medical Supplies

He assured that two additional consignments of **ration kits**, along with **state-of-the-art water filters**, would be delivered by the next day. These, along with food packets and medicines, are being dispatched using both government relief measures and his personal MP funds 2.

  • Doda: DC Harvinder Singh highlighted timely interventions at Bhaderwah, where water flow was redirected to prevent inundation. Road damage near Rout Marmat was also noted 3.
  • Udhampur: DC Saloni Rai reported 38 relief camps (over 2,000 people sheltered), 380 damaged roads (190 restored), though connectivity remains challenging in pockets like Dudu Basantgarh and Moungri 4.
