JAMMU, Sept 25: The 9th National Pickleball Championship, organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Amateur Pickleball Association (JKAPA) under the aegis of the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), commenced today at Green Field Ground, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. While the formal inauguration took place today, matches will be played from September 26 to 28.

Billed as the biggest pickleball event ever hosted in the region, the championship features 426 players from 22 states, marking a significant milestone for the sport’s growth in India and underscoring Jammu’s rising profile on the national sports map.
A JKAPA spokesperson welcomed athletes from across the country, calling the tournament “a celebration of sportsmanship and unity.” Since 2013, AIPA has hosted national championships at various venues, steadily building a strong legacy for pickleball in India.
Gracing the inauguration as Chief Guest, Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Aijaz Qaiser, congratulated the organizers and participants. He noted that the event not only strengthens local sports infrastructure but also positions Jammu as a hub for emerging sports. JKAPA expressed hope that the championship will inspire the next generation of athletes in the Union Territory.
